During the Fall Meeting of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), the Producer Licensing Working Group (PLWG) met to continue its review of limited-line licensing issues. The PLWG focus has been the following: 1) individually review the licensing requirements for each core limited line; 2) review other limited lines and determine what licensing requirements should apply to them; and 3) determine if another “catch all” limited line is needed to address licensing requirements for insurance products not already encompassed within the list of limited line.

NASBP has learned that the U.S. Senate may vote as soon as tomorrow on H.R. 674, legislation to repeal the 3% Withholding Tax.
Please consider placing a call to your Senators Office in Washington asking they vote for H.R. 674, the House-passed legislation, and oppose any amendments or modifications. Last week, the House overwhelmingly approved H.R. 674 by a vote of 405-16.

NASBP and SFAA as well as nine construction and insurance organizations support legislation, H.R. 3534, introduced yesterday by U.S. Representatives Richard Hanna (R-NY) and Mick Mulvaney (R-SC).
The groups commend the Congressmen for proposing the "Security in Bonding Act," that provides needed and common-sense repairs to a procurement system that can permit gamesmanship and the acceptance of surety bonds with deficient assets, often to the detriment of the many small businesses furnishing labor, materials, and equipment on federal construction projects.
