U.S. DOT Transportation-Related Goods/Services

The US Department of Transportation's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (DOT/OSDBU) operates in the Office of the Secretary of Transportation. The primary responsibility of the DOT/OSDBU is to ensure that small businesses are treated fairly and have an opportunity to compete and be selected for a fair amount of the agency's contracting and subcontracting dollars.

OSDBU has a presence in all 50 states through 11 Small Business Transportation Resource Centers (SBTRC’s) around the country, which provides small businesses at the state and local level with valuable information and technical assistance to become better prepared to compete for federal, state, and local transportation contracts.

A key program for the SBTRC’s is the Bonding Education Program (BEP). The BEP consists of a comprehensive set of all-inclusive workshops designed to address what businesses need to do to become bond-ready, as well as one-on-one sessions with local surety bonding professionals to help in assembling the materials necessary for a complete bond application. Last year, the BEP was conducted in 17 cities nationally with 25 cities on the schedule for 2013. The NASBP has been a very supportive partner in these initiatives across the country.
