In Remembrance

Timothy W. Fanto
(1958-2016)

NASBP was saddened to learn that NASBP activist Tim Fanto, 57, of the NASBP Affiliate Zurich Surety in San Francisco, CA passed away January 12, 2016. For the last 30 years, Tim was a mainstay at NASBP Annual Meetings and Regional Meetings. Tim joined Zurich in 2007 and was Senior Vice President of National Accounts--having operational and underwriting responsibility for Zurich’s National Account unit in the Western United States. Prior to this role, Tim managed the Northwest Region for Contract Surety. With over 30 years in the industry, Tim held assignments in field offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco with leadership positions at Aetna, Travelers, XL, and Zurich. He had a B.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California (USC) and an MBA in Finance from the University of Connecticut.

Mike Bond, Head of Zurich Surety, stated, "Tim was a friend and truly passionate about the surety industry. He built genuine relationships with his customers and brokers. Tim will be missed very much."

Tim Jacobson, Tim Fanto's colleague in San Francisco, said: "Tim's enthusiasm was contagious, making our jobs more rewarding. His absence will be felt for some time. Tim was a passionate USC Trojan alumnus, having attended over 170 consecutive USC Football games. As the USC song says 'FIGHT ON.'"

A celebration of Tim’s life was held January 23, at the Elks Lodge in Walnut Creek, CA.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made to USC Athletics, Attn: Julian Bonse, 3501 Watt Way HER 203B, Los Angeles, CA 90089 or Community Concern for Cats, P.O. Box 3795, Walnut Creek, CA 94598. Please designate in Memory of Tim Fanto on subject line.
