Summer William J. Angell Surety School Open for Priority Registration
Registration for the Summer Session of Surety School is now open for NASBP Members, Affiliates and Associates. In addition to Levels I and II, NASBP will also offer one class of the Angell-Curtin Advanced Surety School (Level III). Space is limited and usually sells out early.
For nearly four decades, the School has provided students with the opportunity to learn the business from the top surety producers and underwriters in the country. The 2016 Summer session will take place from July 31 to August 5 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Over the course of three days, Level I offers an introduction to the surety industry that familiarizes students with the function and process of bonding with an emphasis on understanding how contractors’ financials are analyzed during the underwriting process. Level I is intended not only for assistant, associate, trainee and new producers and underwriters but also for administrative assistants, account managers, risk advisors and executive assistants, among others. The registration fee for Members, Affiliates and Associates is $1,350. For Level I information, click here.
The intensive, five-day Level II teaches students the basics of profiling clients, analyzing work in process, understanding cash flow and its importance to a contractor’s financial stability, creating an account submission, dealing with different types of claims, and managing risk. It concludes with a case study that offers participants an opportunity to put into practice all the knowledge and skills learned during the week. This program is a must for producers and underwriters with less than five years of experience. Others who have benefited from the class include claims assistants, risk advisors, analysts and customer service representatives. The registration fee for Members, Affiliates and Associates is $1,895. For Level II information, click here.
Offered only once a year, the Angell-Curtin Advanced Surety School (Level III) centers on advanced financial analysis and underwriting concepts, along with marketing and sales strategies, large account commercial surety, risk management, and strategic industry issues. Level III's three-day program is designed for surety professionals with at least 5 years in the business and is great for those who recently took Level II and want to continue their professional development with the classes designed and taught by longtime bond producers and underwriters. Level III is also a fantastic refresher for more experienced professionals who want to take their game to the next level. The registration fee for Members, Affiliates and Associates is $1,850. For Level III information, click here.
School attendees are responsible for making their own sleeping room accommodations with the Kansas City Marriott Country Club Plaza. NASBP students receive a discounted rate of $129 (plus applicable taxes). To guarantee the rate, reservations must be made before Friday, July 8, 2016.
Non-member registration will open later this spring. Direct questions to Charnita Lee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
