Meet the New NASBP CPA Advisory Council Participants

NASBP is pleased to announce transitions in and additions to its CPA Advisory Council (CPAAC). NASBP welcomes Carl Oliveri and Kathleen Baldwin to the CPAAC. Oliveri is now one of the eight CPAs serving on the CPAAC. As the new Executive Director of the Construction Industry CPAs and Consultants (CICPAC), Baldwin serves on the CPAAC as ex officio, along with the former Executive Director John Corcoran, who is currently the Relationship Partner of CICPAC and continues in his ex officio role.

The CPAAC, inaugurated by NASBP in 2015, is comprised of distinguished CPAs with knowledge of and experience with financial, tax, and accounting issues in the construction and surety industries. The Council participants serve as valuable resources to NASBP, providing excellent informational content for various articles, Virtual Seminars, and in–person presentations.

Oliveri is a Partner and the Construction Practice Leader at Grassi & Co., in New York City. He has over 18 years of experience working with clients in the construction industry, particularly with regard to financial statement preparation, income tax preparation, cash flow and operations forecasting as well as litigation and cost claim support with related negotiations. His extensive industry experience allows him to provide insight and advice to construction clients on marketplace trends and best practices.

A thought leader in the industry, Oliveri has presented nationally at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and CICPAC construction conferences and across the New York metropolitan area, including the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) Construction Conference as well as for the General Contractors Association, Building Trade Employers’ Association and other trade organizations in New York. Additionally, he has published articles on important issues, such as the current state of the New York metropolitan construction industry, American Taxpayers Relief Act, contractors’ sales tax issues, and the upcoming impact of public private partnerships.Oliveri is a member of the Executive Committee and the Vice President of CICPAC, where he also serves as the Thought Leader Committee Chair.

He also serves on the board for the New York City Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association and was the chairperson for the NYSSCPA Construction Contractors Committee for two terms. Most recently, he was appointed to an at-large position on the board of the Institute of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals. Other professional associations include the Construction Management Association of America, AICPA, the worldwide and New York City Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and his Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Management from the York College of Pennsylvania.

Kathleen Baldwin, CPA, CCIFP, CICPAC’s new Executive Director, has more than 15 years of experience in public accounting, most recently as an Audit Partner in Warren Averett’s Pensacola office. During her time there, she led the firm’s Construction Practice Group, focusing on accounting, auditing, and consulting services.

She is an active member of the Construction Financial Management Association, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, American Institute of CPAs and Florida Institute of CPAs, and continues to strengthen CICPAC’s relationship with these organizations.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of Southern Mississippi and her Masters of Business Administration from University of West Florida. In addition to her CPA license, she also earned her Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional. She resides in Pensacola, Florida, and is actively involved with several community organizations, as well as her family.

John Corcoran’s construction-related career spans over 30 years during which he has served as the Chief Financial Officer of construction companies in Arizona and California as well as in his association related activities. Formerly the Executive Director of CICPAC, he is currently the Relationship Partner of CICPAC and continues to serve on the CPAAC as ex officio. The Relationship’s Partner’s role includes mentoring the new Executive Director and being an active liaison/relationship builder to construction and accounting associations.
