September 23 NASBP Virtual Event Breakout Session to Address Verification of Project Financing

  
The next event in the NASBP Virtual Event series is here! The September NASBP Virtual Event: Preparing for the Future Nationally and Regionally will be held on Wednesday, September 23 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:20 p.m. Eastern time. This NASBP Virtual Event will feature two keynote sessions and three breakout sessions with a regional focus.

Tracy TuckerNASBP First Vice President Tracy Tucker of Tucker Agency, Ltd. will provide the opening address and welcome everyone to the September NASBP Virtual Event.











Chad Schexnayder and Alana PorrazzoThe first keynote session will be titled "Chapters 7, 11, and 13 Are Not Just for Books: Understanding Bankruptcy as a Surety Professional" and will be presented by Chad L. Schexnayder, a Partner, and Alana L. Porrazzo, an Associate, at the law firm Jennings, Haug & Cunningham, LLP. See both pictured here. Schexnayder and Porrazzo will focus on what surety professionals should understand about business bankruptcies. They will discuss red flags before a company files for bankruptcy, how sureties can work to avoid “claw back,” and the importance of documentation and communication between the surety, bond producer, and surety client to control risk! Schexnayder was recently featured on the free NASBP "Let's Get Surety" Podcast Episode #17. Schexnayder regularly represents surety clients in bankruptcy cases throughout the United States.


Nick NewtonThis keynote presentation will be moderated by NASBP Second Vice President Nick Newton of Newton Bonding. 













Scott MacDonaldThe second keynote presentation, titled "
Unmasking Post-COVID Economic Conditions," will feature economist S. Scott MacDonald, Ph.D., who is President and CEO, SW Graduate School of Banking Foundation. (See MacDonald pictured here.) MacDonald will give his economic forecast as it relates to the 2020 Elections, current COVID-19 concerns, and the future of lending. 


Patrick Pribyl
This keynote presentation will be moderated by NASBP Third Vice President Patrick Pribyl of Lockton Companies, LLC. 











Messages from the sponsors of the September Virtual Event will be shown during two 10-minute breaks, one between the keynote presentations and one between the second keynote presentation and the Regional breakout sessions.


Regional Breakout Sessions

The keynote sessions will be followed by three simultaneous breakout sessions developed by NASBP Regional Directors covering the following topics respective to the region.

Jonathan Dunn and Ali SalamiradThe 1, 2 & 3 Breakout Session, titled "Recent California Appellate Court Decision’s Impact on Payment Bond Obligations on Public Works Projects" will be presented by Jonathan Dunn and Ali Salamirad, Partners of the law firm Salamirad, Morrow, Timpane & Dunn LLP.









John Bustard, Mike Pipkin, Mike HeidrickThe 4, 5, 6 & 7 Breakout Session, titled "Where’s the Money?: Being Proactive on Verification of Project Financing" will be presented by NASBP Immediate Past President John Bustard of King & Neel, LLC; Mike Pipkin, a Partner at the law firm Weinstein Radcliff Pipkin LLP; and Mike Heidrick of  NASBP Affiliate The Hartford.














Ben LordThe 8, 9, 10 & 11 Breakout Session will be titled "Considerations for ESOPs--What Flies and What Does Not in Today’s Climate" and presented by Benjamin Lord, CPA, CCIFP of the NASBP Associate firm Albin Randall & Bennett.










NASBP Regional Virtual Steering Committee Meetings—Tuesday, September 22


On the day prior to the NASBP Virtual Event, Tuesday, September 22, please plan to join us for the 
NASBP Regional Virtual Steering Committee Meetings hosted by the NASBP Regional Directors. The day's schedule is as follows:

Steering Committee Meeting for Regions 8, 9, 10 & 11 – 11 a.m. ET/ 10 a.m. CT;
Steering Committee Meeting for Regions 4, 5, 6 & 7 – 2 p.m. ET/ 1 p.m. CT;
Steering Committee Meeting for Regions 1, 2 & 3 – 4 p.m. ET/ 2 p.m. MT/ 1 p.m. PT. 

These meetings, which are normally held at the fall Regional Meetings, give the membership the opportunity to discuss current industry topics and challenges at the local level. All NASBP Members, Affiliates, and Associates are invited to participate in these Regional Virtual Steering Committee Meetings. A notice will be sent to the membership providing more details about these Virtual Steering Committee Meetings.
