NASBP updates website to help members interact and share knowledge

NASBP is launching a new version of its website www.nasbp.org to emphasize the opportunities for members to network and share knowledge online. The updated site also makes the most popular resources even easier to locate.

"After analyzing comments and suggestions provided by the NASBP membership, the Automation and Technology Committee compiled and prioritized a wish list. The redesigned website includes all of the upgrades and features to not only locate content, but contribute and interact quickly and easily,” said Nick Newton, who is Chair of the Committee and President of the NASBP Member firm of Newton Bonding in Stillwater, MN.

One of the main reasons for revamping the website was to help simplify how the NASBP membership can post messages and share files to foster the knowledge base within NASBP SuretyConnect's online communities, said Dave Golden, NASBP Director of Technology.

The new website was in development for about three months before replacing the previous site, which had been online for three or four years, Golden said. NASBP wanted to find ways to make the website easier to navigate and to encourage visitors to use the SuretyConnect communities, he said. Communities are available for each NASBP committee, as well as a general community for all members, affiliates and associates, he said.

The new website also improves the level of personalization and interactivity for members, based on factors including their particular interests. One new feature available on the website is integration with LinkedIn so that members can import their profile from the social networking platform to SuretyConnect.

NASBP also reviewed the site's analytics to determine which areas of the site people were visiting, as well as those where they were “getting stuck” and even leaving the site, “and that told us where we need to work on things,” Golden said.

This led to a redesign in which the website's most popular pages were featured at the top of the home page. Those sections include “Advocate,” “Learn” and “Network”along with “Get a Bond,” which offers the important benefit of helping visitors locate NASBP members.

The new NASBP website also is designed to enhance the visibility of dynamic feeds from informational resources such as the NASBP magazine, Surety Bond Quarterly, and NASBP SmartBrief,  as well as the NASBP Twitter feed. A banner at the top of the NASBP website provides a rotating display.
