Plan for Professional and Business Success in 2016

NASBP makes it easy for NASBP Members, Affiliates and Associates to be successful by offering professional development opportunities for bond producers and underwriters–no matter title or experience level—so we encourage everyone to make sure their New Year’s resolutions include at least one of NASBP’s educational offerings.

For new bond producers, customer service representatives, account managers, and account administrators, the NASBP William J. Angell Surety School Level I, to be held in January in Houston and in August in Kansas City, offers a solid foundation of the skills needed to be successful in our industry.

If you need to develop skills without travel, you can’t do better than NASBP’s three online courses: Contract Surety Fundamentals, Commercial Surety Fundamentals, and Ethics for Surety Bond Producers, which just went online in July 2015. Each course is available for students to take any time over a 12-month period. Students work at their own pace. At the end, there’s an exam to ensure that participants have grasped the fundamentals. These courses are also great prep for Surety School Level I.

For bond producers who are ready to tackle more complex work in process and cash flow management issues, we suggest the NASBP William J. Angell Surety School Level II class, which also will be held in January in Houston and in August in Kansas City.

Could seasoned professionals benefit from the opportunity to raise their skills even further? Of course they could and we encourage you to consider the Angell-Curtin Advanced Surety School Level III, offered only during the summer session. This high-level course includes advanced financial analysis, risk management, credit modeling and benchmarking, and is taught by more than a dozen highly experienced bond producers and underwriters from around the country.

All three levels of Surety School and the three online courses are certified for continuing education (CE) credit in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Information on the credit awarded in each state can be found on the NASBP website.

Also for 2016 and back by popular demand, our Sales and Marketing Workshop for Surety Bond Professionals will be held Sept. 21-22 in Austin, Texas, in advance of our Regions 4, 5, 6 & 7 Meeting. Registration will open in April, and we encourage you to register early. Space is limited, and when we last held this workshop in 2014, it sold out!

To keep you up to date on all the latest in the industry, NASBP hosts bi-weekly Virtual Seminars. Topics already scheduled for 2016 include an economic forecast, an introduction to workers’ comp, and navigating the False Claims Act, in addition to six of our seven-part Leadership Series. Hosted by noted leadership authority Mark Harris, the Leadership Series includes such as topics as: managing conflicts, engaging employees, hiring the right people, and coaching for performance. There’s a special fee of $399 to purchase all seven Virtual Seminars.

If you act soon, you can become  a Virtual Seminar Annual Subscriber, which entitles you to automatic registration for each of the 20+ Virtual Seminars NASBP will hold in 2016 for one low price of $995 (that’s a 40% discount, plus you get access to the entire library of Virtual Seminars, going back to 2009).

So make a plan to become one of the thousands of people who know to take advantage of NASBP career-enhancing opportunities and start your 2016 on your best professional footing ever! For more information, go to the NASBP website and click on the “Learn” button.

Please note:
The NASBP website will be undergoing routine maintenance between Dec. 23 and Jan. 4; therefore, online registrations for all NASBP events, including NASBP Surety School and NASBP Virtual Seminars, will not be processed during that time. WebCE and NASBP’s four online courses are not affected and may still be purchased and accessed during this time.
