Dear Colleague:
Mark your calendar for the 2012 Annual Meeting & Expo to be held at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida April 29th to May 2nd.
Remember a time when your word was your bond and a handshake sealed a deal? While the rest of the world may think those concepts are old fashioned, our industry still operates on those basic principles. We develop and maintain relationships in our business that will last a lifetime. I chose "trusting relationships" as my theme for this year to bring focus to the importance of the relationship that are at the heart of our business. Bond producers become trusted advisors to their clients and partners with their sureties. Everyone involved has the same goal - to keep the economy moving forward while ensuring that inherent risks are prudently managed. Today, when times can be very challenging for our clients, they need to know that we are in their corner for the long haul – that’s the foundation of a trusting relationship.
This year we have planned a program that will provide you with critical information for the year ahead as well as networking opportunities that will help you develop your relationships. Peter Wilson, from CNA will share his insights on the current state of the insurance industry and what we can anticipate in the coming year. We have a diverse line-up of breakout sessions that include a “Beyond 2012: Recovery in the Construction Market”, a panel presentation on “Emerging Contractor Success Stories - How to recognize the opportunities they present”, a CPA and Attorney will present on the advantages and disadvantages of legal entities, and a commercial surety session on “How to Build a Bond with Public Entities”. In addition, this year we will have an extended educational session that will offer Continuing Education (CE) credit. This special session entitled “Managing Subcontractor Risks – A Guide for Surety Professionals”.
Our meeting will conclude on Tuesday night with a night of music and fun, you will see why there is “no place like NASBP” for a “Wickedly” entertaining final event.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the magnificent setting we will have for this year’s meeting. A triple A, four-diamond resort, The JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes is a world-class destination in the middle of 500 acres of tropical landscape. This is the perfect place to bring your family and enjoy a round of golf, bass fishing, visit one of the famous theme parks, or just float down the lazy river.
I encourage you to take a moment today to register for this year’s meeting and I look forward to seeing you in Orlando.
Best regards,
John M. Rindt
NASBP President
