NASBP Testifies Before DC Council Committee

Larry_LeClair_testifies_DC_Cncl.jpegLast month NASBP Director of Government Relations, Larry LeClair, testified before the DC Council’s Committee on Business and Economic Development with regard to Bill 22-0948, the “Small Business Bonding Program Establishment Amendment Act of 2018.” The legislation was introduced to create a bonding education program within the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) to provide training and technical assistance to eligible small businesses with the goal that these businesses will become eligible to qualify for surety credit. While the legislation appears to be well intended, as LeClair noted during his testimony, the Bill has several criteria requirements that will prohibit small businesses from participating in the Program. NASBP will continue to monitor this legislation. To obtain a copy of NASBP’s official statement, which was submitted to the DC Committee, visit nasbp.org.
