The NASBP 2024 Annual Meeting & Expo is less than two months away! Final preparations are underway and registration numbers are trending towards another record-breaking event. Chairs Matt Cashion and Mark Duggan and their Program Committee have worked hard to develop content that will inspire our future but also reflect on the past. Building off of the 2023 NASBP Fall Meeting sessions, NASBP continues to educate NASBP members about the Enron loss and the profound impact it had in the early 2000s. NASBP Annual Meeting Keynote Speaker Andrew Fastow, former Chief Financial Officer of Enron, will provide his perspective on the Enron scandal. The second Keynote Session on Tuesday morning will feature local CEO and Founder of Gold Rush Vinyl, Caren Kelleher, who will share her fascinating story of transitioning from a Silicon Valley music executive to the trailblazer behind a cutting-edge, Austin-based vinyl record pressing plant during the digital music era.
The Meeting will officially kick off on Sunday evening with a rooftop welcome reception at the JW Marriott Austin. This year will feature multiple changes and updates, the most anticipated is a Tuesday afternoon themed entertainment event called “ALL IN Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament" (in lieu of a golf event). There is no entrance fee, as this event will be complimentary for all registered attendees and their registered spouses/guests who wish to participate; it will feature refreshments and snacks, heated competition, and fun prizes with lots of “Austin Flavor."
The Tuesday night final event will be a short walk up the street to a private event at the Speakeasy Austin, a unique venue, with multiple floors to explore, a rooftop terrace, local bourbon tasting, games, food, and custom cocktails. The event will feature different options for musical entertainment, where you can dance the night away to 80s hits from the Spazmatics or opt for a quieter ambiance to have a conversation with unique acoustic music that only the “Live Music Capitol of the World” can deliver. The venue will truly have something for everyone.
The NASBP 2024 Mobile App will soon be available to download. The mobile app has features to help attendees improve their experience at the Annual Meeting, including maps of the hotel, schedule of events, alerts to inform them of any program changes or news, and photos of the meeting uploaded daily. The app also features an up-to-date attendee list for those who want to instantly contact colleagues attending by email or phone and a map to highlight the Monday night company reception locations and times.
