Annual Meeting & Expo Round-up

NASBP 2014 Annual Meeting & Expo Focused on the Importance of Mentoring and Critical Industry Information

The 2014 NASBP Annual Meeting & Expo, held in April in San Antonio Hill Country, provided the 730 people in attendance insight to mentoring and critical industry information.

During the meeting, McMahon announced that NASBP member Erle Benton had been awarded the prestigious SIO Tiger Trust Award. See the SIO article in this issue for details. In addition, McMahon presented both William F. Maroney of Wells Fargo Insurance Services, USA and J. Spencer Miller of Schwartz Brothers Insurance Agency with the John “Jack” J. Curtin, Jr. President’s Award for their outstanding service to the Association. Maroney and Miller (both pictured here) each received a framed certificate personally inscribed and signed by the NASBP President, as well as, a minted NASBP President’s medallion made of fine silver.

The Program included the Keynote Speaker Dr. Kevin Elko providing advice on mentoring as well as a mentoring panel (pictured). Also, the breakout sessions included a contract claims panel and a commercial surety claims panel. Both topics are addressed in articles in the new NASBP Surety Bond Quarterly magazine. Travelers Bond provided a continuing education program for bond producers on trusts and surety indemnification. At the evening’s banquet dinner, McMahon announced the 2014-2015 NASBP Officers. See related article in this issue. The Meeting ended with attendees enjoying an elegantly decorated dinning experience and dancing to a live band.
