In January a sold-out Winter Surety School Session with 168 students from across the U.S., Canada, and Switzerland kicked off the new year with clear insights into the world of surety when they attended the 2024 NASBP William J. Angell Surety School, held in Dallas, TX.
During every NASBP School session, students in each class are asked to nominate the most outstanding pupil (MOP) in their respective team. The chosen MOP from each team is awarded a special memento football signed by their classmates and faculty.
The Contract Surety Level I Red Team awarded the coveted football to Turner Estep, who works at McGriff in Durham, NC.
Similarly, the Contract Surety Level I Yellow Team selected Katrina Von Kamath from Zachry Construction Corporation, located in Grapevine, TX.
For the Contract Surety Level II Blue Team, Ryan Kinlin of MHBT, a Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC Company in Dallas, TX was chosen; and for the Contract Surety Level II Green Team, the award was presented to Andrew Miraflor of Markel Surety Corporation located in Austin, TX.
In the Commercial Surety Level I class, the football was awarded to Gracie Ray of SOMPO International Surety in Mt. Juliet, TN.

As a token of appreciation for their hard work and commitment to NASBP, faculty members receive a crystal apple for every five years of service. At this Winter's Surety School, three faculty members were honored with service awards. Nathan Wonder, Jason Vonhaz, and John Sheppard were each recognized for five years of service. We congratulate and thank you for your dedication to NASBP and the surety industry!
