Now is a great time to go back and listen to episodes of NASBP Podcast “Let’s Get Surety” that you might have missed last month! The two December episodes discuss resources and information that will be valuable for your contractor clients.

“A Conversation with Steve Sandherr on AGC of America” featured co-hosts Kat Shamapande and Mark McCallum in discussion with Steve Sandherr, CEO of Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). Sandherr looks back at his three decades with AGC, talking about his journey to the association, building and keeping talented teams, and the importance of working with like-minded groups. Sandherr shares his insights on the commercial construction industry and offers a glimpse at the amazing work that has gone into ConsensusDocs of which NASBP is an endorsing coalition member, AGC’s educational offerings, and AGC’s government relations work that has aided in shaping policies for the benefit of the commercial construction industry.

The second NASBP podcast released in late December, “Accounting Needs for Small Contractors” highlights the importance of learning how to prioritize, delegate, and grow a team of trusted advisors as small contractors grow. Guest Jessica Krause, founder and owner of NASBP Associate New Lyfe Accounting, shares her expertise in accounting for construction firms and the importance of an accurate WIP report. Krause also discusses how outsourcing accounting services can help small contractors and offers tips on the right questions to ask to find a CPA who understands the dynamics of the industry.


NASBP “Let’s Get Surety” Surpasses 100 Episodes!

Did you know that “Let’s Get Surety” has released over 100 episodes?

Episode 100 “Celebrating Success: Big News on the Advocacy Front on the 100th Episode” featured Philip Macres, a Principal with Klein Law Group PLLC and BEAD Coalition Outside Council, and Larry LeClair, NASBP Director of Government Relations. They discussed the exciting news from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration that surety bonds will be accepted as an alternative to letters of credit (LOCs) for the BEAD program moving forward.

Episode 101 highlights Women in Surety (WIS), a non-profit organization, founded in 2016 to offer surety women opportunities, mentorship, and support. “Women in Surety: Power and Potential Unleashed” features guests Nancy Schnee, current President of WIS and Senior Vice President with American Global LLC; Chandar Potter, Vice President of WIS and Head of Commercial Surety with Munich Re; and Carol Levine, a co-founder of WIS and President of Arthur B. Levine Co. They address how WIS empowers, inspires, and advances women professionals in the surety industry and discuss WIS offerings, such as their events and mentorship program.
