March 21 AAA Construction Conference Explores Emerging Tech and ADR

  

The 2024 American Arbitration Association® (AAA) Construction ConferenceExploring the Intersection of Emerging Technologies and Alternative Dispute Resolution will be held on Thursday, March 21 in Coral Gables, FL. The Conference agenda is now available.


NASBP is participating as a cooperating organization of the Conference. The 2024 AAA Construction Conference will focus on the relationship between emerging technologies and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in the construction industry. Presenters will look at things like BIM, AI, and other smart ConTech tools, to see how they are altering construction practices and how those alterations effect conflict resolution.

Attorneys from two NASBP Attorney Advisory Council firms will be presenting at the Conference.

Denis Serkin, a Partner with Peckar & Abramson, P.C., will be part of the panel discussion “Beyond Border and Bytes: Understanding the Global Landscape of Technology and Dispute Resolution in the Construction Industry.” This session will delve into the complexities of international construction disputes and give insights to using emerging technologies in cross-border conflicts.

David F. McPherson, a Senior Partner with Watt Tieder Hoffar & Fitzgerald, LLP, will be on the panel, “Keeping up with the Jones: Are You Meeting Your Ethical Obligations to Stay Abreast of New and Improving Technologies?” This panel will provide practical insights into how legal professionals can meet their competence obligations, ensuring they are well-equipped to navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by new technologies.


The conference opens with welcome remarks from Michael A. Marra, Division Vice President of AAA (pictured above). Marra is also a session moderator for “Can Emerging Technology in the Construction Industry Lead to Unintended Disputes?” which will provide real-world examples of how evolving technology can affect disputes and how clients and practitioners can utilize technology favorably, including out of the box approaches to ADR. Other sessions include:

- Charting the Path Forward: A Visionary Outlook with Bridge M. McCormack
- Breakfast with the General Counsel: What Keeps Them Up At Night in the Era of Emerging Technologies
- New Construction Tools: The Use of New and Improving Technologies on Construction Projects and in ADR

Attendees will leave with a better understanding of how emerging technologies can be leveraged for efficient construction practices, all while embracing the importance of ADR in dispute resolution.
