Early Career
Surety for New Professionals
NASBP's new “Surety Industry Introductory Course" provides a comprehensive overview of the surety industry, designed for individuals new to suretyship or professionals seeking a structured foundation of core concepts, processes, tips and approaches.
"As a surety intern, this course has been super helpful to help me understand the surety world. I would definitely recommend it for new surety professionals."

Anika Ducklow, CCI Surety an RPS Company
"This is a wonderful introductory course for beginners! It was also a great review for me as it's been 2 years since I attended NASBP Contract Level I Surety school."

Emily Fitz, Cross Agency
"As an underwriter, it was mainly a refresher on information we have already learned from the training provided by the employer, but I can see this course being very helpful to those new to the industry or for those who would like a better understanding of the surety world."

Davis Mortland, UFG Insurance
Early Career
Surety for Students and Educators
NASBP's new “Make Surety A Career” program makes resource materials about surety and surety careers available for both university insurance, business, and construction management educators and for the benefit of students who may be interested in such career paths.
"The NASBP surety curriculum has been a great addition to my Advanced Topics in Insurance course. Surety is unfamiliar to most students, and the materials do a very good job of making it understandable and interesting. The case study has been especially well received because it gives students an opportunity to apply what they’ve learned to a realistic business situation. Several of my former students are now working in the industry as surety brokers and underwriters, which speaks to surety’s appeal once students are exposed to the field and understand the career opportunities it offers."

Kurt Krogull, University of Kansas School of Business
"Surety is a critical part of the construction ecosystem, yet most students never encounter it. The Make Surety a Career curriculum changes that by giving faculty clear, practical material that connects classroom concepts to real project execution. Contractors and engineers rarely fail because they can’t build what they're contracted to build, it’s often an economics issue. NASBP’s content shows how job‑level issues ripple across an entire enterprise. It has sparked real curiosity in our engineering students; one even spent the summer interning at a major national brokerage considering a career he otherwise knew nothing about."

Tyler Sendelbach, University of Southern California
