NASBP Discount of $100 off of Registration for AICPA National Construction Industry Conference

 

NASBP members, affiliates and associates can receive a discount of $100 off of their registration for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant’s (AICPA) National Construction Industry Conference that will be held December 1-2, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Bellagio. This discount applies to both AICPA member and nonmember registrations.

Two surety presentations are scheduled during the Conference. One is titled, “A Surety Perspective on Contractor Financial Statements: What It Takes to Make a Happy Surety,” presented by NASBP Associate Emilio F. Alvarez, CPA, President, E. F. Alvarez & Company, P.A., Miami, FL, and NASBP Affiliate David Pesce, Vice President, Berkley Surety Group, LLC, Morristown, NJ. This presentation on surety is scheduled during a Concurrent Session on Thursday, December 1, at 12:35 pm.

The other is a panel that will address perspectives about the present state of affairs in the surety world and include NASBP Associate Emilio F. Alvarez, CPA, President, E.F. Alvarez & Company, P.A., Miami, FL, moderating the following panelists: NASBP Affiliate M. Ross Fisher, Vice President and General Manager, The Hartford Construction Group, Hartford, CT; William E. Cheatham, Chairman, Cheatham Consulting, LLC, Loch Lloyd, Kansas City, MO; and William A. Marino, Surety Bonds Chairman, Construction Services Group, Aon Risk Solutions, Jericho, NY. This panel will be held Friday, December 2, at 9:15 am.

The Conference Keynote Speakers are Anirban S. Basu, an economist with Sage Policy Group, Inc., who will address the future of the construction industry, and Kenneth Bement, a project manager at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), who will give an updated outlook of the FASB Revenue Recognition Standard.

Additional topics covered during the Conference include: construction taxation issues, auditing and accounting, credit outlooks, accounting standards, project joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions in the construction industry, requirements for government contracts, fraud risks, technology in the construction industry, impact of IFRS/convergence on the construction industry, public private partnerships, management and transfer of risk, strategic financial planning for contractors, cash management, reviews and audits, and doing business abroad for contractors.

Continuing professional education (CPE) credits are available. Two pre-conference workshops on the topics of construction accounting and auditing and taxation are scheduled the day before the Conference begins.
