Contracts and Bond Forms Workshop Registration Open

NASBP is pleased to announce that NASBP has opened registration for its exclusive Contracts and Bond Forms Workshop, developed in collaboration with the law firm of Smith, Currie & Hancock LLP. The one and a half day intensive course will take place October 23-24, 2014 in Dallas, Texas.

Taught by a renowned team that includes three senior members of the Smith, Currie & Hancock law firm–Thomas J. Keller, (pictured, facing the class) Senior Partner and Partners Eric L. Nelson and Gene Rash–as well as Steven Nelson (pictured, sitting and right of Kelleher) Executive Vice President and General Counsel for SureTec Insurance Company, this workshop covers key contract provisions that affect the scope of the liabilities on the project bonds. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have a heightened sense of risk awareness and the skills to identify, analyze and mitigate those risks.

This workshop should be part of the 2014 training plan for all bonding agents and contractors.

Highlights of the workshop include:

  • Key contract risk allocation provisions on bond obligations and liabilities
  • Analysis of standard and statutory bond forms
  • Review of federal government payment & performance bonds
  • Potential post-completion liabilities of the surety
  • Understanding warranty and long-term performance liabilities
  • Default terms and remedies

The registration fee of $895 for NASBP members/affiliates/associates and $1,990 for non-members includes all class materials, continental breakfast and breaks both days, and the reception on Thursday. Lunch and dinner is “on your own” and offers a great time to network with peers from across the country. All events will be held at the Hyatt Regency Dallas, where NASBP has reserved a block of rooms at a special rate of $179/night (plus applicable taxes).

The NASBP Contracts and Bond Forms Workshop is certified for continuing education (CE) credit in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Information on the credit awarded in each state can be found on the NASBP website.
