The recently launched NASBP Make Surety a Career Program provides university instructors and college students with free resources to learn more about surety bonding, including classroom curriculum and an online course geared toward college students, all of which are readily accessible from the NASBP website at https://learn.nasbp.org/MakeSuretyACareer.

How can NASBP members promote the Program and help grow the surety industry talent pool? Below are a few ways you can get started today!

Is Your Firm Interested in Participating as an Internship Host in the NASBP Program?

A critical component of the Program is the option for college students, who complete the contract surety online course, to request consideration for an available internship or position with a surety agency or surety company. Internships often are formative experiences for those fortunate to find them and can be powerful attracters of talent to our industry.

As a NASBP Member and or Affiliate you can tap into this talent pool directly! If your agency or company offers or is willing to offer internship experiences for college students, consider participating in the Make Surety a Career Program. The same can be said if your agency or company is looking for a recent graduate interested in a surety career, consider participating in the Make Surety a Career Program. Expressions of interest may be directed to prodev@nasbp.org. Let us know the best contact at your agency or company for internships and/or surety professional opportunities, as well as pertinent information regarding the opportunity, and NASBP will provide the information to interested students.

Do You Have Contacts at Your Alma Mater or Local Universities?

Reach out to professors at your alma maters and local universities who teach insurance and business classes and with whom you may have a relationship. Share the NASBP Make Surety a Career Program website with them. Or share the Program with the college career center, also known as a career services or career development office, at your alma maters and local universities if you don’t have direct contacts. NASBP’s Make Surety a Career Program offers new resource materials about surety and surety careers for university insurance, business, and construction management educators and for the benefit of students who may be interested in learning more about surety and in participating in an internship with a bond producer or surety company.

Let NASBP know at prodev@nasbp.org what universities, professors, or career centers you have contacted.
