Navigating Contract and Bond Form Language Can Be a Tricky Proposition

If you missed the October NASBP Construction Contracts and Bond Forms Workshop held in Atlanta, Georgia this year, you will have another opportunity to attend the Workshop in the fall of 2012. This program, which also offers continuing education credit, was developed in collaboration with one of the premier construction law firms, Smith, Currie & Hancock. Tom Kelleher, Eric Nelson, and Gene Rash of Smith, Currie & Hancock along with Steve Nelson of SureTec offered participants practical strategies for identifying and dealing with problematic language in construction contracts as well as surety bond forms. The course, which qualified for an average of 10 CE credits in most states, covered a wide array of risk topics and included take-away tools such as checklists, pre-qualification forms, and action plans. The participants felt that the case study exercises offered a great opportunity to work in teams to review the concept offered during the Workshop. The program will be offered again in October of 2012 in Dallas, Texas. Complete information will be available after the first of the year on the NASBP website.
