NASBP Federal Government Construction Workshop and Fly-in Day
This year, the June 23 Congressional Legislative Fly-in Day is being held immediately following NASBP’s new educational workshop, titled “Understanding Federal Government Construction: Trends, Traps and Trumps.” The workshop is slated for June 21 and 22; the Fly-In will occur on June 23.
The new NASBP Workshop offers participants critical insights into current trends in federal construction procurement, including recent changes in the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a) Program. At the conclusion of the program, surety professionals will have received a firm understanding of the laws and regulations that can affect, positively and negatively, their clients who perform federal work. One of the guest speakers will be Bridget Bean, district director of the SBA’s Washington Metropolitan Area District Office, who will provide her insight. The workshop will explore public-private partnerships, joint ventures, teaming agreements, mentor-protege agreements, SBA certification and the False Claims Act as well as effective ways to find federal construction work. If you choose to register for the NASBP Federal Government Construction Workshop, June 21-22, you will receive the registration for the Legislative Fly-In, June 23, for free. This year’s Fly-in promises to be just as exciting and informative as last year. The 2011 NASBP Congressional Legislative Fly-in will take place at the Phoenix Park Hotel, a short walk to the U.S. Capitol as well as to the Senate and House Office Buildings. The Fly-in begins on Wednesday, June 22, with a Welcome Reception from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Park Hotel. The morning of the 23rd will be devoted to a policy briefing session with three U.S. Representatives speaking at the Phoenix Park Hotel from 7:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast. In the afternoon, NASBP members, affiliates and associates will meet with their respective Congressional Delegation. The day will conclude with a NASBP-hosted reception on Capitol Hill. NASBP will invite members of Congress, their staff, as well as representatives of NASBP industry partners.
If you did not participate in last year’s Fly-in, register now and seize this opportunity to make a difference by advocating for surety in Washington, D.C. Those who participated last year are encouraged to join us again and to lead NASBP’s efforts to remind members of Congress of the importance of the surety product.
Click here to access the registration form for both events. NASBP has reserved a room block for both events at the Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. Please secure your hotel room a.s.a.p., as hotel space in D.C. is at a premium during this period.
