
NASBP Offers a Comprehensive Introduction to Contract Surety through New Online Course
NASBP is excited to offer an online course, Contract Surety Fundamentals, that provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the contract surety product as well as an orientation to how the product is sold and underwritten. Contract Surety Fundamentals was developed by a team of industry experts and is divided into 10 chapters of content:
Chapter 1 – Overview of the Construction Industry
Chapter 2 – What Is Surety?
Chapter 3 – What the Surety Looks for in a Contractor
Chapter 4 – Miscellaneous Bonds
Chapter 5 – Construction Procurement and the Roles of Those Involved
Chapter 6 – Bond Claims
Chapter 7 – Other Services of a Surety
Chapter 8 – Special Concerns of Sureties
Chapter 9 – Popular Misconceptions
Chapter 10 – Role of the Professional Surety Bond Producer
The course, available on the NASBP website through the state-of-the-art WebCE training platform, is completely self-paced and will take students between six and ten hours to complete. Students can navigate within the course to return to material they would like to review more than once, and each chapter concludes with review questions to reinforce the material that has been covered. The course culiminates with an online exam that test the student’s overall comprehension of the source material.
NASBP has applied for continuing education (CE) credit for the course in all 50 states and the District of Columbia with the anticipation that most states will consider and assign CE credit hours for the course by the end of 2012.
