Industry Panel on Performance Security on P3s Featured During Nov. 12 & 13 Educational Conferences Co-hosted by NASBP and Smith, Currie & Hancock

NASBP and the law firm of Smith, Currie & Hancock have organized a panel of experts to provide perspectives on performance security and public-private partnerships (P3s). The November 13 afternoon panel, that will include representatives from Walsh Construction, Zurich, Travelers, and a rating agency, yet to be identified, is one of many sessions scheduled during two days of educational conferences on federal contracting and public-private partnerships (P3s) held November 12 and 13, at the Grand Hyatt Washington DC.

Co-hosts NASBP and Smith, Currie & Hancock have chosen the session topics to address concerns that surety professionals, general contractors, subcontractors, construction managers, and in-house counsel and risk managers have about federal contracting and P3s.

The first conference, November 12, will address “Practical Tips, Helpful Hints, and Cold Facts: Understanding Today’s Federal Construction Contracting.” This conference on Wednesday will focus on subjects, such as False Claims Act liability, small business issues, mentor-protégée arrangements, and best value contracting, and provide attendees with information about recent developments affecting federal construction contracting.

The second conference, November 13, will address, “Dissecting Public-Private Partnerships: Roles, Structures, Risks, and Security.” On Thursday, the conference will examine the structure of P3s, the roles and responsibilities of P3 players, unique contractual risks for the concessionaire and contractor, and performance security issues. Attendees will be provided P3 case studies.
