The recently launched Make Surety a Career Program provides university instructors and college students with free resources to learn more about surety bonding, including classroom curriculum and an online course geared toward college students, all of which are readily accessible from the NASBP website at https://learn.nasbp.org/MakeSuretyACareer.
Free Online Course for Students and Recent Graduates
The “Make Surety a Career Course” is a free, on-demand, interactive eLearning course for students available 24/7 that students can take at their own pace. The Course consists of 9 modules that begin by describe how surety bonding works and the value and benefits of surety bonds. It then goes on to detail the underwriting process and focuses on certain contractor characteristics that sureties are looking for—the Three Cs, Character, Capacity, and Capital. The later modules go into underwriting considerations and helping contractors build an advisory team.
After students completes the course and evaluation, they can complete the “Internship Request Form” request internship experiences with bonding agencies and with surety companies.
