Ken Wenham Roebbelen ContractingUsing real-life stories from owners, lenders, architects, and contractors is a great way to explain the value of surety to current and potential clients.

The NASBP series of Surety Story videos relay real situations and demonstrate that surety bonds are crucial to success. They are easy to share in many formats bond producers use to communicate with their clients—social media, slide presentations, email, and websites. Below are some tips and tricks for sharing these videos easily.

Getting Started

Go to the NASBP Be Guaranteed To Succeed website and select “Surety Stories” from the menu across the top. This takes you to a page that features all of the NASBP Surety Story videos. Each video has a short description below to help you choose which video would be best to share.

Once you have selected the video you want to share, click “YouTube” on the bottom right side of the video—this will take you to the video’s home on the YouTube website. Once there, copy the URL from the browser navigation bar at the top of the webpage and paste into the platform from which you are sharing.

Suggestions for each platform:

Social Media

  • Begin a post on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter with any language you’d like to use to introduce the video. (Note that Twitter has a 256 character limit.)
  • Paste the URL you copied from YouTube. A preview of the video should populate.
  • Don’t forget to use the hashtags: #NASBP #BeGuaranteedToSucceed!
  • Publish the post using the “Send” or “Post” button.

Slide Presentations

  • Select the slide where you would like to insert the video.
  • Click the “Insert” tab on the top navigation bar.
  • Select “Video” in the “Media” category.
  • Select “Video from Web” option.
  • Paste the video URL from YouTube of the specific video you would like to include on your slide. Click “insert.”
  • The video will populate on the slide as a box with a screenshot of the video and a play button in the middle. It can be moved around and placed anywhere on the screen like an image.
  • The video will play when it is clicked, either in Presentation mode or in the traditional main viewer mode of PowerPoint.

Email

  • Draft your email, making sure to introduce the video with a few sentences that provide the reason why you are sending it (why it matters to that client).
  • Paste the URL copied from YouTube after the introduction.

Website

This is the only platform where you won’t want to use the link copied from the address bar of YouTube.

When you are at the video on YouTube, click the “Share” button below the video and to the right of the video title. This brings up a number of ways to share the video—choose the first one that says “Embed.”

This provides an HTML code to copy, which you then can copy to add the video to your website. All website platforms have different methods to embed videos, so please consult with your web development team or hosting platform for best practices and steps on how to add videos to your website.

Sharing compelling, real-life stories from project stakeholders can solidify the message that surety ensures a project—and personal—success. These videos and many other valuable resources are available for NASBP bond producers in the NASBP Producer Communications Toolkit 2.0 at the Be Guaranteed To succeed website.

**Don’t forget to “Like” and “Share” on Fridays NASBP’s social media post, which detail a useful resource from the Toolkit 2.0.**
