The Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has reached a major milestone on the road to connecting everyone in America to affordable, reliable high-speed Internet service. As of today, 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the five territories participating in the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program have approved Internet for All plans.
This NTIA approval means all states and territories are taking the next steps to request access to their allocated BEAD funding and select the providers that will build and upgrade the high-speed Internet networks of the future. As the states move from BEAD planning to implementation, the BEAD Progress Dashboard allows the public to track how their state or territory is progressing through major deployment milestones, including completing the challenge process to determine eligible locations for funding and selecting providers to build the infrastructure.
NASBP Presents to BEAD Stakeholders
Recently, NASBP Past President, Steve Cory, presented at the Broadband Leadership Summit (BLS) in New Orleans. During his presentation, Cory provided an overview of the basics of bonding and segued into a discussion about the BEAD Bond Kit. The BLS Program included key broadband leaders, such as state broadband representatives who are focused on implementing the BEAD Program.
On December 3, NASBP President Zach Mendelson participated in the Mississippi Broadband 2024 Winter Summit. See Mendelson's column for more information.
Should an opportunity become available for you to present before key BEAD stakeholders, please contact NASBP staff for presentation materials.
