A flexible, practical foundation for professionals who are new to suretyship.
The surety industry depends on professionals who understand not only how to complete individual tasks, but also why those tasks matter and how they fit into the larger bond process. With agencies working to attract and retain new talent and experienced professionals passing on decades of industry knowledge, thoughtful training and orientation are more important than ever.
New employees often enter surety from a wide range of educational, insurance, financial, and business backgrounds. A consistent introduction to the industry’s terminology, relationships, responsibilities, and workflows helps them connect their day-to-day work to the broader purpose of suretyship. It also gives organizations a stronger starting point for developing confident, capable professionals who can grow within the industry.
A new educational resource is now available to help professionals build that foundation. The NASBP Surety Industry Introduction Course provides a comprehensive, structured overview of the industry for those who are new to surety or want a clearer understanding of its core concepts, processes, tips, and approaches.
The course brings essential information together in one cohesive learning experience. Participants gain practical insight into how surety bonds function, the roles and responsibilities of industry stakeholders, and the full lifecycle of a bond, from submission and execution through maintenance, renewal or release, and potential claims.
This course is designed for new and recent hires, account managers, assistants, emerging producers, administrative team members, career switchers, and others seeking a foundational understanding of the surety industry. It can also serve as a valuable onboarding and professional development resource for organizations looking to give employees a shared base of knowledge.
Flexible Learning with an Industry Connection
The course combines the flexibility of self-guided learning with the opportunity to connect directly with experienced industry faculty. Participants complete 12 self-paced modules and may choose from live virtual discussions offered twice each year.
The learning experience also includes practical resources, such as forms, checklists, an industry dictionary, and other tools participants can continue to reference in their work. Those who complete the course receive a certificate of completion.
