This year’s NASBP Summer Session of the Surety School took place August 4 to 9 in Bellevue, WA; and, once again, the Summer Session hosted NASBP’s Commercial Surety School! Throughout the week, experienced surety professionals guided over 100 students from across the U.S., U.S. Territories, Canada, and Germany through a rigorous and engaging educational program.

In addition to providing an immense amount of educational content, the School also fosters strong bonds between students and faculty. At the close of this 3-to-5-day educational experience, students are asked to select among their classmates the Most Outstanding Pupil (MOP) who will be given the momento (a football or hard hat) signed by all the students and faculty in their class. Receiving the coveted football in Level I was Miller Hilliard of R.A. Brunson, Inc., in Baton Rouge, LA. Level II students selected Ryan Hays of Insurance Associates, Inc. in Rockville, MD. Level III students selected Tom L. King of Gene Lilly Surety Bonds, Inc. in Lincoln, NE, to receive the signed hard hat. The Commercial Surety School class also took part in this tradition and selected Emily Golecki of Alliant/Mesirow Insurance Services, Inc. in Chicago, IL. She received the Most Outstanding Pupil (MOP) signed football!

NASBP would also like to thank the outstanding team of NASBP Members and Affiliates who served as faculty for this summer’s Surety School, dedicating their time and expertise once again to give back to the industry by elevating and inspiring the next generation of bond producers and underwriters and the surety industry as a whole. We would also like to give special recognition to Level III Faculty Member Elizabeth J. Bottemiller of The Hartford, who was presented with a crystal apple for five years of service as NASBP Surety School Faculty.
