Telling Our Story Through Video
I am sure you’ve heard the adage “a picture is worth a thousand words,” which conveys that an image may be more impactful than a written description of a complex thought or concept. Certainly, that train of thought is behind NASBP’s effort to express the power and importance of surety bonding relationships through short, visually appealing videos.
If you participated in the NASBP Virtual Event: Bonding with Bandwidth on May 20, you saw the debut of the latest NASBP video, We’re All Building Something, which relates in just over one-half minute the role surety bonds play in realizing our quality of life. If you have not viewed this video, I urge you to do so. You no doubt will feel additional pride regarding your own critical role in advancing surety to build businesses, projects, and, in turn, our country.
NASBP now has produced 15 different video surety stories, which illuminate the benefits of surety bonds and surety relationships from the perspectives of owners, contractors, consultants, and lenders. These are genuine, unscripted stories told from the heart about how surety bonding relationships have provided everything from, as one lender said, the ability to sleep better at night to, as one contractor related, support when needed most. Each one is a powerful testament to the surety product, and the Be Guaranteed to Succeed website now has all of the videos catalogued on one webpage with summary descriptions.
Perhaps you have even seen some of these videos on the homepage of the website for commercial construction’s leading magazine, Engineering News-Record, as NASBP has undertaken a video placement campaign, part of the overall Be Guaranteed to Succeed public relations campaign, these last three months. The NASBP SmartBrief also has been a vehicle to show these videos, and NASBP will commence a video campaign with the Independent Community Bankers Association shortly, where their members will receive lender surety story video eblasts.
I particularly enjoy visiting NASBP agency member websites and seeing that several of our members are employing these videos on their own agency websites. What a powerful way to tell our story and to market the importance of the surety product. What if all our member agencies and affiliates did the same thing? We could turn individual voices into a chorus, a virtual crescendo of images extolling the merits of surety bonds. How many words would that be worth?
I invite you to link to or post your favorite surety story video on your company website. This can happen and, if it does, our community will be guaranteed to succeed through spreading the message of the power of surety bonding!
