Summer Surety School — A Great Success in Denver!
The summer offering of the William J. Angell Surety School was held for the first time in Denver, Colorado. The Level I School was taught by long-time faculty member and NASBP First Vice President, Tom Padilla, along with Donnie Doan, Dedi Belis, and new faculty member, Don Appleby. Students spent long and productive days listening to lectures, participating in case studies, and having peer discussions.
The Level II School was taught by tenured faculty members Jim Lareau, Bob Shaw, Tom Durkin, Bud Herndon, Tom Padilla, Dedi Belis, and NASBP President, Larry McMahon. Students in this school spent a full week learning more advanced material through lectures, and hands-on case studies. In addition, there was a luncheon panel discussion where students could ask any questions of a group of industry leaders.
Students Recognize Fellow Students
At the conclusion of each session, students voted to select one member of their class who they felt contributed the most to their learning experience. This peer award is known by NASBP Surety School students as the “MOP,” which stands for “Most Outstanding Pupil.” The MOP receives a football to acknowledge their contribution to the overall class team. NASBP congratulates this Summer Session’s recipients: Level I Red Team “MOP” Tyler DeBord of Brown & Brown of Florida and Level II Green Team “MOP” Reggie Jarvis of Centennial Surety Associates.
