The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) now requires all suppliers bidding in the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program to post a $50,000 bid bond. Surety professionals are encouraged to submit questions and feedback about the new bid bond requirement to the DMEPOS at bidsuretybond@cms.hhs.gov. CMS will not respond to emails individually; however, inquiries submitted to this mailbox will assist CMS in developing frequently asked questions and other important information that will be posted on the Competitive Bidding Implementation Contractor (CBIC) website.

For more information, view the CMS’ final rule on bid bonds for the DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program in the November 4, 2016 Federal Register online or Federal Register Vol. 81, No. 214, 77834 in pdf.
