NASBP is fortunate to have a Certified Public Accountant Advisory Council (CPAAC), to serve as NASBP’s outstanding resource team of experts in their field, on such critical topics as accounting, tax, and financial issues, among others. They provide valuable, timely articles for Surety Bond Quarterly and Pipeline; content for NASBP Blogs; presentations for NASBP Virtual Seminars and NASBP Podcasts episodes; and in-person seminars.

NASBP is pleased to introduce two new participants to the NASBP CPAAC: Dan Gaston a Partner at Forvis Mazars (https://www.forvismazars.us/), who has over 20 years of experience and is the construction industry leader of Forvis Mazars and Brian Kassalen of Baker Tilly, a Principal with Baker Tilly (https://www.bakertilly.com/) who has been in public accounting since 1998 and serves as the Construction Industry Leader of professionals who provide audit, tax, and advisory services to clients in the real estate and construction industry.

Rolling off the CPA Advisory Council is Jason Myers of Forvis Mazars and Timothy Reynolds of Carr Riggs & Ingram. Neither Myers nor Reynolds are retiring from practice; each is just stepping off the NASBP CPAAC. We at NASBP thank Myers and Reynolds profusely for sharing their experience, knowledge, time, and expertise for the benefit of our members and of the public.

Dan Gaston, a Partner at Forvis Mazars (https://www.forvismazars.us/), has over 20 years of experience and is the construction industry leader of Forvis Mazars. He provides audit, accounting, and financial consulting services to companies within the construction industry. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and Kansas Society of CPAs (KSCPA) and previously served on the board of directors for KSCPA. Gaston is currently is a member of the Kansas State Accounting Advisory Council. He is a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP).

Gaston serves on the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts Ensemble Advisory Council, the Heart Ball Executive Leadership Team, and the Executive Committee, Conference Planning Committee, and Finance Committee of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) and previously served on the board of the Kansas City chapter of the CFMA as the Education Committee chair. He is a graduate of The University of Kansas, Lawrence, with a B.A. degree in economics, and a graduate of Kansas State University, Manhattan, with an M.Acc. degree.
