Arthur Lawrence Colley
September 24, 1962 – January 30, 2023

It is with great sadness that NASBP announces the passing of NASBP bond producer Arthur Lawrence Colley, 60. Art was a Surety Executive with the NASBP Member NFP of Charlotte, NC.

John P. Hyland, Senior Vice President – Head of Surety, NFP Corp, said, “Art Colley was one of the hardest working colleagues I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Together with his wife Nicole, they created an incredible portfolio of clients over the years and provided those customers with extraordinary surety bonding services, insights, guidance, and advisory services. Art was indeed the “whole package”; not only dedicated and hard working for his clients, carriers, and colleagues, but also a wonderful husband and dad to his sons, Lawrence and Clayton. With decades of experience in the surety bond business, Art developed many deep friendships with underwriters, his colleagues, and even his competitors. A wonderful man who has left a legacy to be proud of, and one we should all aspire to achieve. I know that all of us here at NFP will miss him dearly.”

Art was born and raised in Plainfield, New Jersey, the youngest of seven siblings. He graduated in 1984 from Drew University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Art worked from 1989 to 2005 at Chubb Surety. He became a surety bond producer following an initial professional training program at Chubb. In 2007 he went to Nielson & Company, Inc. of Charlotte where he worked as a Managing Partner/Surety Specialist until 2019. From there, he went to work for NFP Corporation as a Surety Executive until his passing.

It was at Chubb that he met his wife of 28 years, Nicole Montealegre. They raised two sons, Arthur Lawrence, Jr., and Clayton, in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the family has lived for the past 28 years.

Art is survived by his wife, Nicole; their sons, Lawrence and Clayton; and six siblings: Amy Colley, Beth Colley Brooks, Robert Bryan, Roberta Berg, Suzanne O’Keeffe, and John Bryan.

A funeral mass was held at St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church in Charlotte in February. Interment followed in Forest Lawn East Cemetery.

Consider making a memorial donation in Art’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.

Pamela Lynn Stocks
June 10, 1947 – December 29, 2022

NASBP was saddened to learn that Pamela Stocks, 75, of Genoa, Nevada, passed away on December 29, 2022, after being overcome by a pulmonary condition while in the hospital recovering from surgery of a broken femur. Pam was active with NASBP, first, as a surety professional with several NASBP companies and then, later, as a technology provider and consultant for the surety industry. Members may recall that Pam attended the Annual Meetings representing her software firm, InSure Vision Technologies, as a speaker and exhibitor from 2000 to 2016.

Pam grew up in Levittown, NY. At 21 she married Harvey Stocks. An opportunity took Pam to Los Angeles in 1969 where she lived and worked most of her adult life. Pam was President of InSure Vision Technologies from 1998. She created a revolutionary internet-based product for its time, SurePath. SurePath was InSure Vision Technologies’ flagship product for processing and managing both paper-based and electronic surety bonds. SurePath was a comprehensive library of more than 1,600 pre-scanned surety bonds, allowing bond agents to focus on working with clients instead of scanning and creating forms.

Laura Shanahan, Owner and Managing Director at Laura A. Shanahan Consulting, and formerly of Endurance Reinsurance Corporation, XL Re/NAC Re, and The Hartford, said “I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Pam for over 35 years! She was truly dedicated to the surety industry and a visionary in the automation of the bond business. She was so hard-working and conscientious, always looking for ways to improve our business!“

According to another close friend with whom Pam grew up, “Pamela faced many obstacles in her life, and she always prevailed. Her intelligence, tenacity, and positive attitude helped her achieve great respect and admiration professionally and personally. Her life was the epitome of the American dream. With no higher education, no ‘connections,’ Pamela worked her way up in the insurance industry.”

“Right out of high school, she took her first job with Aetna Life and Casualty and, 25 years later, finally started her own brand, InSure Vision Technologies, with Beverly Hall. Pam was the President and creator of SurePath, a software that revolutionized the surety business forever. I have always been in awe of her personal power, intelligence, and drive. Pamela was a loving and loyal friend, had an easy laugh, was a great cook and hostess, and was a force. It gives me great sadness that she no longer shares planet earth with me. She will be sorely missed.”

She is survived by her husband, Harvey Stocks; brother, Steven Jacobs of Hartford Connecticut; Beverly Hall, business partner; and nieces and nephews.
