NASBP Virtual Seminars continue to provide vauluable information to surety professionals. In July, Tom Tropp, Vice President of Corporate Ethics and Sustainability for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., presented “Ethics as a Risk Management Tool” and shared a lot of his professional and academic experience on the subject as well as his understanding of the special issues of our industry. This Seminar generated a lot of participant comments and questions!

Later that month, NASBP Automation & Technology (A&T) Committee Chairman Nick Newton and A&T Committee Member Matt Cashion, previewed some of the key findings of a recent NASBP survey on tablets, such as the iPad, and shared many helpful ideas during the Virtual Seminar, titled “Tablet Technology – How to Maximize Your Time Out of the Office.” We understand this Seminar stirred discussion and interest in a number of offices with members looking into how to adapt their websites to accommodate producers using mobile technology and whether it made sense to move away from laptops to tablets. Those who are relatively new to tablet technology also learned new ways to immediately use their iPads more effectively.

August brought Two Informative Virtual Seminars

August 14: “Coaching for Leadership: How to Transform Potential into Performance” by Kelly Riggs. Riggs recently presented at the AGC meeting in Hawaii and was very well received.

August 28: “The Three Cs of Surety E & O: Using Character and Capacity to Avoid Spending Cash on Attorneys” presented by Butch Weed a former surety underwriter and agent and now an attorney whose practice regularly involves the defense of claims against agents and other professionals as well as litigation involving surety bonds, insurance, construction and environmental issues.

Look forward to these upcoming Virtual Seminars in September

On September 11 and 18 join us for Virtual Seminars on “Public Private Partnerships” presented by Zurich professionals involved in both Canadian and U.S. projects. They will share examples from projects completed and in progress as well as discuss upcoming issues sure to affect all involved or interested in these partnerships.

On September 25, Helen Lally of Great American Insurance Company will present a seminar on current issues in “Probate.”

Each Virtual Seminar is one hour in length, including time for Q&A. Supporting documentation is provided for reference to supplement the topic under discussion. Seminars are priced at $69 per phone line. NASBP encourages members, affiliates and associates gather several people around a speaker-phone in their office to maximize their firm’s benefit.
